About our Business Course
This course introduces students to the real world of business through global case studies, team challenges and creative problem-solving.
Students explore companies including Airbnb, Nike, Apple, LEGO, Amazon, Disney and Patagonia, looking at how they built strong brands, created loyal customers, solved operational challenges and made strategic decisions.
Students explore these ideas through practical tasks, group discussions, cultural comparisons and pitch-style activities.
By the end of the programme, students will have developed their own business idea and gained a clearer understanding of how successful companies create, deliver and protect value.

What You'll Study: Course Curriculum

Disney: Customer Experience & Storytelling
Students explore how Disney uses storytelling, emotional connection and intellectual property to create world-class customer experiences. They design a new Disney experience for teenagers and consider how brands shape memory, culture and loyalty.
Scale, Operations & Responsible Business
Amazon: Operations & Logistics
Students unpack how Amazon built one of the world’s most powerful logistics systems. They explore the flywheel, supply chain efficiency and the last mile before designing their own delivery system and debating the human and environmental costs of convenience.
Patagonia: Purpose, Ethics & Steward Ownership
Students examine how Patagonia built a profitable global business by putting purpose and ethics at the centre of its model. They explore transparency, greenwashing, circular economy thinking and what businesses may need to sacrifice to protect their values.
Innovation Showcase: The Sapphire Pitch
The Sapphire Pitch is the final challenge of the Business, Entrepreneurship & Start-Ups course.
Working in teams, students identify a real-world problem and design a scalable, ethical business to solve it. They draw on lessons from at least four case studies, combining innovation, branding, strategy, operations and purpose into one business concept.
Students prepare an investor-style pitch covering:
- Hook
- Solution
- Engine
- Impact
- Ask
They then present their idea in a Dragon's Den-style format, defending their thinking and responding to questions.
The focus is not only on the idea itself, but on how clearly students can explain the problem, justify their decisions and show how their business could work in the real world.
The Future: University and Careers
The programme is designed to give students a broad set of experiences that help them understand future university and career options in business, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Students take part in a dedicated Career Guidance Workshop, where they explore future pathways, reflect on their strengths and consider how business connects with different industries.
Careers linked to this course include:
