Learn. Explore. Create.
The Sapphire Experience has been designed around three simple ideas. Students develop academic skills, discover new places and perspectives, and apply their learning through projects and shared experiences.
Learn
Develop the skills used in higher education through lectures, seminars, masterclasses, research activities and collaborative discussions.
Explore
Experience university life, cultural excursions, industry-focused experiences and opportunities to discover new places, ideas and perspectives.
Create
Apply learning through projects, challenges and the Sapphire Innovation Showcase, where students share ideas and celebrate their achievements.
Academic Skills for Future Study
Sapphire Masterclasses run alongside each academic pathway, giving students the tools and confidence to succeed in university-style learning.
With over 15 hours of Masterclasses and guided reflection, students develop practical academic, communication and study skills they can use long after the programme ends.
Guided reflection helps students think about what they are learning, how they are developing and what their experiences may mean for future study.
Academic Writing & Academic Reasoning
Students learn how to structure ideas, build stronger academic arguments and use appropriate academic language.
Seminar Discussion & Speaking Skills
Students develop confidence contributing to discussions, sharing ideas clearly and responding to different viewpoints.
Lecture Notes & Study Strategies
Students practise listening for key information, organising notes and using study methods that support memory and understanding.
Research, Evidence & Academic Integrity
Students learn how to find reliable sources, evaluate information, use evidence and understand the importance of avoiding plagiarism.
Academic Showcase
Students bring their learning together through a final showcase activity, presenting ideas clearly and confidently to others.
Explore Future Pathways
Students experience elements of university-style learning throughout the programme, including lectures, seminars, independent research and collaborative project work.
They also visit another UK university campus during their stay, giving them a broader perspective on higher education in the UK.
A dedicated career guidance session helps students explore future university and career pathways, while industry-focused experiences connect academic subjects with the real world.
Depending on the programme and availability, industry-focused experiences may include visits, guest speakers, live project briefs or specialist workshops.
University-Style Learning
Lectures, seminars, research tasks and collaborative academic work.
University Visit
An organised visit to another UK university campus.
Career Guidance
Support to explore future study, admissions and career pathways.
Industry Experiences
Visits, guest speakers, project briefs or specialist workshops linked to real-world application.
Sapphire Innovation Showcase
The Sapphire Innovation Showcase brings students together to share ideas, research and projects developed throughout the programme.
Drawing on their chosen pathway, Masterclasses and wider Sapphire experiences, students prepare a presentation, display or project that shows what they have learned and how they have applied it.
The showcase gives students the opportunity to present confidently, learn from other subject areas and celebrate their achievements with the wider Sapphire community.
Students have the opportunity to
- Present ideas clearly
- Share perspectives with international peers
- Learn from other academic pathways

- Reflect on their learning journey
