Safety & Supervision FAQ’S
Student Life & Accommodation
Where Do Students Stay?
All students reside in modern, secure university residences in the University of Bath.
- The Collegiate Experience: Living in the University of Bath gives students a taste of university life, fostering a sense of belonging and maturity.
- Privacy & Comfort: Students stay in private, en-suite rooms, allowing for a comfortable personal space to rest and study.
- Security: Access to residential blocks is controlled via electronic key cards or 24-hour porters.
What level of supervision is provided?
We maintain an excellent staff-to-student ratio to ensure that every child is known and supported individually.
- Age-Appropriate Independence: While we provide a secure “bubble,” we allow older students (16-18) managed periods of free time in pairs or groups.
- Sapphire Mentors: Our dedicated “Sapphire” pastoral staff live on-site within the student residences. They are available 24/7 to provide guidance, manage our student needs.
- Check-ins: We operate a registration system for all lessons, workshops, and evening activities. Curfews are enforced to ensure students are safe and well-rested.
Can students use their phones?
Yes, phones are allowed, but we do expect students to stay fully engaged during academic sessions.
- Distraction-Free Learning: To ensure students gain the full value of our academic programme, we require phones to be put away. This creates a better environment for concentration and more meaningful face-to-face communication.
- Stay Connected: Students are encouraged to use their phones to stay in touch with family during their free time and in the evenings.

What if my child feels unwell or needs medical assistance?
If a student is taken ill or needs medical treatment during their stay, we have access to various healthcare facilities, including doctors, hospitals and physiotherapists, in close proximity to the Bath centre.
- Insurance: Comprehensive medical and travel insurance is included in the course fees for all international students.
- First Aid: Many of our on-site Sapphire staff are First Aid trained and can manage minor ailments or injuries.
- Medical Access: For more serious issues, we have established links with local GP surgeries and are a short distance from the nearest hospital.
Arrival & Contact Number
How are transfers from the airport managed?
Whether it’s the student’s first time going on a trip solo, or they are seasoned independent travellers, we’ve got the right support in place.
- Meet & Greet: We offer a dedicated airport transfer service from London Heathrow (LHR) to Bath. Our staff, clearly identifiable in branded uniforms, meet students at the arrivals hall and escort them directly to the campus via private coach or chauffeured car.
Is there a 24-hour emergency contact for parents?
Yes. Upon enrolment, all parents are provided with a 24-hour emergency telephone number. This connects you directly to our senior management team on campus at any time, day or night, ensuring that you are only ever a phone call away from your child.
